So I read imboycrazy.com fairly regularly, despite having a completely love/hate relationship with it/Alexi.
Today she posted a list of things she requires/hopes for in a potential boyfriend. I’m going to completely overlook the fact that she has things like “has a car, makes more money than me”, and just mention that I’ve never understood the idea that the dude needs to treat his mother well/have a great relationship with his mom.
Y’know what? Sometimes your parents are assholes. I’m not going to think less of someone if the relationship they have with their family isn’t great. I know some of my friends are really close to their family and that it’s important for their SO’s family to like them/for their SO to have a good relationship with their family, but honestly, sometimes your parents are shitty, and there’s nothing wrong with not having a strong relationship with them, or even not talking to them at all. And sometimes, that’s actually the best thing to do. Just because they’re your family doesn’t make them good people.
